The Kiwanis Club of Monticello hosted two very special guests at its May 27 meeting: the 2015 Kiwanis Scholarship recipients from Jefferson County Middle High School. JCMHS seniors Tarlon Dywuan Jackson and Wilexis Janee Davis emerged as the winners from over a dozen applicants. Only two days before their graduation ceremony, the two seniors had a lot to smile about as they received their scholarship checks from Monticello Kiwanis Club President Floyd Faglie. Tarlon, who is an honor graduate and a member of the National Honor Society, told the club he plans to attend TCC to study dentistry, with the eventual goal of becoming an orthodontist. Wilexis graduates from JCMHS with plans to study social work at FAMU, and eventually move into the medical field. She spoke of her mother, who has worked with Covenant Hospice, as inspiration for her decision. Congratulations, Tarlon Jackson and Wilexis Davis.
