Two Jefferson County residents stumbled upon a remarkable find earlier this week.
Byron Love and Kaley Love, two siblings from Monticello, were cruising timber (surveying and estimating the amount of timber in a selected area) within a 400+ acre tract of swamp and forest land in the southern half of the county.
When out in the woods, there are many things that you can expect to find – but the skeleton of an old plane is not one of them.
“You never know what you'll find when you're cruising timber,” wrote Byron Love on a Facebook post with several photos of the plane.
After their discovery, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office was contacted and according to Sheriff Mac McNeill, his agency will be looking into the mysterious plane.
As this is a developing story, information regarding the plane, its crash and any occupants is limited.
