The Team Sabre Robotics Club of Somerset Jefferson K-12 washed and detailed nearly 20 cars during their first car wash, a number parent volunteer Tina Dollar called “a perfect number for our first official car wash.”
Team Sabre plans to hold a car wash on the first Saturday of every month at the school, weather permitting (“as long as it’s not below 40 degrees!” said Dollar), raising funds and moving ever closer to their goal of building a heavyweight robot to enter in the Battle Bots competition.
The club members had gone through a car wash training and practice session the previous weekend to learn how to make their team flow with the myriad tasks of washing the outside and cleaning the inside of a vehicle. As they do more and more car washes, they’ll be able to work faster. If you missed getting your car detailed this time, there’s always next month’s car wash.
Additionally, they are currently running a SNAP! RAISE fundraiser at if you would like to make a donation online.
Meanwhile, the first Saturday in November falls on Nov. 4. Look for announcements of Team Sabre’s next car wash.
Who knows....maybe someday, they’ll be able to build robots to wash your car for you!
