The Jefferson Somerset girls flag football team has some stellar players this year, but three in particular are doing really well and deserve some mention. Senior Aazayah Howard and Sophmores Jemika McCray and Tykora Thompson, not only work well together to help the team perform well, but are also ranking at the top of the nation in their respective specialties.
Senior quarterback, as well as safety, Aazayah Howard is number one in the nation for interceptions at the time of writing, with 15 total, according the maxpreps.com. Not only is she top of the nation in interceptions, but she also ranks pretty high in rushing as well, with 607 rushing yards, ranking 8th in the nation.
Running back Jemika McCray, is also performing well and has taken over when it comes to rushing. According to maxpreps.com, McCray is number two in the nation for rushing, at time of writing, with 997 rushing yards.
Lastly, the rusher for Jefferson Somerset, Tykora Thompson, has 21 sacks putting her at number five in the nation for sacks, according to maxpreps.com. According to Coach Harris, she is also number three in the nation overall.
